Mike Faulkner & Peter Foy are leading crew in the NetworkQ WRGB National Rally

Nov 09, 2015

Mike & Peter - Winners in 2014The legendary Welsh forests are ready to welcome a capacity and star-studded 160-car entry into Wales Rally GB, the 13th and final round of the 2015 FIA World Rally Championship.

Building on the huge success of recent years’ events, this season’s spectacular features a fan-friendly three-day route. It comprises 19 competitive special stage speed tests – totalling 193 miles – all run against the clock on a challenging mix of traditional gravel forest tracks and parkland roads. The National event contests the same stages used by the WRC crews on one occasion leading to an event of over 100 competitive miles and 500 liaison miles through north and mid wales.

After a dazzling Opening Ceremony on Mostyn Street, Llandudno on Thursday evening, the intrepid crews face a marathon leg in mid-Wales on Friday. The weekend’s action is closer to the Deeside Service Park and includes the popular RallyFest at Chirk Castle and the return of the iconic Great Orme on Sunday.
The winners will be crowned in front of the teams and fans back in the Deeside rally hub on Sunday afternoon.

2014rallygb2Mike Faulkner and Peter Foy lead crews away for the Network Q National Rally starting as car 201. The crew were victorious in 2014, leading the event after stage 2 and holding a 30 second advantage over the 3 days through the forest tracks of north and mid-wales. The crew finished 2nd overall on this year’s ARRCraib MSA Scottish Rally Championship and an excellent 6th overall on the recent Cambrian Rally.

The BSW Timber rally team’s Mitsubishi Evo 9 face tough competition  for the 2015 event with close rival and 2015 ARRCraib Scottish Rally Champion Jock Armstrong at car 202 followed by Welsh front runner Dylan Davis at 203, the 2013 winner Bob Ceed at 204 and Paul Benn brings an ex Colin McCrae Ford Focus to start car 205.

The Supply U.K. and Scott Group supported crew are under no illusions of the challenges ahead

We are delighted to be contesting this year’s event” said Mike  “the competition will be tough, we have had many season sparing with Jock and he has been in great form on this year Scottish Championship, will need to work hard to retain our 2014 victory. The top 10 are all going to trying for the podium. The challenge of the Welsh forests, castle grounds and the tarmac of the Great Orme will really add to the tough event” continued Mike.
